These works are all made during walks along the Taw and Torridge Estuaries in North Devon, a place where I spent lots of time as a child and where my grandmother still lives. I'm interested in using earth and materials from the place directly on the paper to make marks and drawings. I use rubbings of the ground as a base layer that I work over in ink and pigment collected from the ground. I try to capture a sense of the place, its many layers and local histories to create an alternative map of my experience walking it.
