I work on paper and canvas combining drawing and painting, I use the canvas and paper to record my contact with the ground and a place, often starting with a rubbing of the ground using graphite powder or carbon paper. I combine these initial rubbings with layers of information I collect from a place - tracings of pavement marks, tidal patterns, desire lines, aerial imagery, objects exposed in the ground through erosion. Together these layers of information form an alternative map of a place - based on my experience walking in it - collecting the fragile marks we leave behind us that vanish over time.
